CHINESE JADE JEWELRY

Sacred to Chinese and Mayan cultures, this lovely green stone is said to bless everything it touches.  Ancient cultures believed jade invoked wisdom, peace, harmony and devotion to ones high purpose.  Others may call it the ‘dream stone’, and by placing it under your pillow will create more lucid dreams.

Jade has been known to man for over 7000 years.  Known in China as ‘Yu’ or ‘Royal Gem’.  The Chinese use jade as grave furnishings for higher members of the Imperial family.  It was often used in ancient times for tools, weapons, utensils and dishes.  In ancient Egypt and other regions, jade was admired as the stone of love, inner peace, harmony, balance, luck and protection.

The term ‘Jade’ can be applied to two different silicate minerals.  Nephrite can be creamy white as well as a variety of green shades.  Jadeitite is found with more color variations including blue, lavender,  pink as well as emerald green.  Of the two, Jadeitite is the rarer.  Translucent, emerald green Jadeitite is the most prized of all.

Jade is the official gemstone of British Columbia and Alaska where large deposits are found.  Today, Jade is regarded as the symbol of the good, the beautiful and the precious.  It embodies virtues of wisdom, justice, compassion modesty and courage.  Jade is also used in gemstone therapy to stimulate creativity and mental agility while also having a balancing and harmonizing effect.

If you find yourself charmed by this lovely green stone, there are many beads and pendants on the market today.  From simple stone shapes to elaborate carvings, jade makes a stunning focal point to any jewellery design.
