UV Beads & Kids

Here is a cool and fun way to educate children from exposure to ultraviolet - UV sensitive accounts. UV Accounts integrates a chemical in plastic that changes color when the beads are exposed to UV radiation (sunlight exposure). You can see that these products turn into many different colors depending on how much UV light each bead has absorbed.  In addition to a new world or designs that this product can be used for, kids seems especially attracted to these items.

In addition to using these as the basis for a craft making project, this is especially ideal for children in country’s were the weather is traditionally very hot and UV exposure is at its highest.  Regions such as and Australia, Africa, South America are great examples where exposure to UV radiation and the possibility of developing skin cancer due to over exposure is a genuine problem and fear for many. You can do all kinds of experiments and crafts with them and make bracelets, earrings, rings, etc… A wristwatch, mobile phone or key ring can be attached if you use a small string or connector. The key to getting the most out of these is to have your children regularly check the beads colors if they are outside and note the color.  Don’t forget to check especially on a cloudy days as these days can also be high UV days.
